Towards the Integrative Biology of Premature Ageing
10 October 2005
Programme
An international workshop on the premature ageing disorder Werner’s syndrome jointly sponsored by SPARC and the BBSRC International Relations Unit.
Werner’s syndrome is one of the most important and informative models of accelerated ageing known.
Speakers will include:
Monday 10th October 2005
Dr Richard Faragher (Brighton): What causes the pathology of Werner’s syndrome?
Professor Ray Monnat (Washington): Werner’s syndrome and cancer.
Prof. D. Cerimele (Sardinia): Epidemiology and clinical aspects of WS in North Contributor from Sardinia: description of a cluster.
Professor Sandy Chang (M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas): Elevated Telomere-Telomere Recombination In WRN Deficient, Telomere Dysfunctional Cells Promotes Escape from Senescence and Engagement of the ALT Pathway
Professor Ian Hickson (Oxford): Enzymology of the RecQ helicases
Dr Lynne Cox (Oxford): Interactions between the WRN protein and PCNA.
Tuesday 11th October 2005
Professor Judith Campisi (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory): Replicative senescence and Werner’s syndrome.
Dr Duncan Baird (Cardiff): Telomere dynamics in Werner’s syndrome.
Dr Dominique Broccoli (Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia): The ALT pathway and recQ helicase mutations.
Professor Makoto Goto (Toin University of Yokohama, Japan): Changing pattern of clinical manifestations in Werner syndrome.
Professor David Kipling (Cardiff) p38 MAP kinase inhibition and Werner’s syndrome.
Note: All presenters will include a short time for discussion, and will be available for longer discussion at end of morning and afternoon sessions.
