By Road and Parking

There will not be any parking available on campus. However, for those with mobility difficulties disabled parking is available.

The easiest and most direct route is via the M4 motorway. Please note that there are currently diversions in place.

  • Leave the motorway at Junction 11.
  • When you reach the roundabout at the top of the slip road follow the yellow diversion signs for the B3270. This takes you onto the northbound A33 (signposted Reading), taking the right-hand lane.
  • Follow the road which loops back round. Do not take the left turn signposted Whitley.
  • As the traffic merges from the left, take the left-hand lane and bear left onto the B3270.
  • Follow this road and at the first roundabout turn left on to the A327 (Shinfield Road).
  • Follow this road and go straight across two mini roundabouts.

For the main entrance and reception

  • Continue straight across at the traffic light junction.
  • After the traffic light junction you will see the campus on the right hand side, enter via the Shinfield Road entrance

Please note: If you are using a 'sat nav' or 'GPS' navigation, please use the following postcode: RG6 6UR

By Rail

Reading is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places around the UK.  There are direct trains from a number of major cities as well as a large number of routes through London.  If you are travelling from or via London the best (and quickest) route to take is from London's Paddington station. Further details can be found at http://www.nationalrail.com/ or http://www.thetrainline.com/

By Bus

A bus journey from the train station to the University will cost you £1.70 (you will need the exact money as the buses do not give change). Buses to Whiteknights campus (Shinfield Road) are as follows: numbers 9, 19, 20 or 21* (Stand SK)

By Air

London Heathrow (LHR) is the closest airport to the University of Reading, approximately 26 miles.

The RailAir Bus picks up passengers from stands 1 and 2 at the Central Bus Station, and stand 10 at the Terminal 5 Bus and Coach Station. Tickets can be purchased from the counter in the Central Bus Station, and from the National Express Sales Desk at Terminal 5. A single ticket costs £14, and return tickets are also available. Coaches run every 20 minutes, and take one hour.

The SPARC Story

Welcome to SPARC and KT-EQUAL: Knowledge Transfer for Extending Quality Life

SPARC brings together researchers, practitioners and policy makers in ageing. It specialises in communicating the latest design, engineering and biological ageing-related research to all stakeholders, making the case about the benefits for an ageing population of scientific research, and it encourages new blood into ageing research. Although funding for SPARC ended in December 2008, SPARC is continuing to function from the University of Reading within a new initiative - KT-EQUAL which commenced in January 2009. Soon KT-EQUAL will have its own website but for the time being news and information about SPARC and KT-EQUAL events are being handled by the SPARC website.
